Anime Vs. Manga!

Postby Shaoisp on Mon May 05, 2008 9:21 am

I am SERIOUSLY disappointed with the anime. Making Oyamada look like a 10 year old! Am I the only one whos upset about this!?

Same here, I don't really like how they made him look like he's somewhere in elementary school. Plus is it just me or does Tayura seem like more of a wimp or something, he acted tougher and had a hardcore personality in a way in the manga, but now he is just another character in a way. I may be wrong though.

Won't Watch Another Episode

Not, it is not your imagination. Tayura is a complete wuss in the anime.
This, combined with the near-shota representation of the lead character, has completely turned me off Kanokon.

In case you didn't know, animes tend to be off manga story lines, basically because it's not the manga storywriter on the project: the studios almost always have "creative" freedom

You must not have seen the novels if you think Kouta looks too shota-ish ->

Also, in the novels, Tayura has a slight masochistic tendency... The anime's "wimpiness" may just be reflective of his willingness to accept some abuse. He was introduced differently in the manga, and that gave him some of his 'hardcore' edge. He acted more or less the same in the anime in that scene (maybe a little dumber), but we'd already seen him acting like a tool before it, so it lost most of it's edge. They should have rolled him out in the anime like they did in the manga, and it would have left a better impression.

Novel cover or not, he still looks about the same age as Minami-ke's Mako-chan. For a high school romantic comedy, that's just not cool. Unless of course you dig shota. :P

at first kouta's character bothered me but after the first episode i didnt mind. he has the same mentality, which if you think about it, it matches his appearance. as for tayura i like him more. hes got some really funny parts and in ep 5 he shows he has some guts. i dunno i enjoy both i think its a funny series, not as funny as golden boy or GTO or school rumble but its pretty close...... now if theyd just make a girls saurus anime

I've come to notice that now, after seeing some more episodes of the series. And even though i thought it was good that his character was tough in the manga, I think with the anime it's good that he's toned down more and is there to add some humor.
