Anyway, recently someone showed interest in doing one of our projects. I don't think it was an existing group, but rather a startup. This always baffles me. Why would resources be put to waste to do something that is already being done. There are plenty of other GREAT manga out there that aren't being englisherated. I personally have a folder called 'potential projects' that is filled with all kinds of manga that I would like to do at some point, but can't do them now because I only have so many hours in a day.
The manga in question is one in which, even at my current pace, I will catch up with the publications eventually, so speed is clearly not the issue. I know that because I am spread so thin, people think that I'm going slow. But, in fact, the only series in which the mangaka is releasing at a faster pace than I am, is Kanokon. That one seems to be releasing really fast. Perhaps it's because there are so few chapters per volume.
Anyway, why don't they try to find something else to work on? Personally, I try to find manga that nobody else would ever do otherwise. With a few exceptions, like Umi no Misaki, which was pretty highly anticipated. We're not giving up any of my projects. In fact we are in the process of reclaiming one that has been in neglect. So, I hope they reconsider, because it would be a shame to see good effort gone to waste.
